How It All Started...

The Montevallo First Baptist Church was founded by 11 members in August, 1855. The first meeting was held at the Academy-probably Reynold Hall on what is now the University of Montevallo Campus. Services were held from 1856-1858 in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church located on the site of the present Methodist Church. A brick building was erected for the church in 1859 where the west wing of the University of Montevallo’s Main dormitory is now located. In 1877 the steeple collapsed causing the walls to fall. For a time, services were held in the Methodist Church. A framed portion of the church was built in 1879 on the present site. A study was added in 1877 and a baptistery in 1900. In 1910-1911 a brick building was erected and dedication services were held on June 11, 1911.

Expanding The Vision...

God wants to give you a greater vision of who He is and the plans He has for you. Satan's goal is to use guilt, insecurity and fears to keep us from growing and living a full, joyful life.

Where We Are Headed...

In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
